Laughter. Lessons. Learning. Superintendent Dr. Normanās afternoon as a substitute teacher at Pine Tree was filled with all this and more as he stepped in for longtime teacher Leslie Piazza.
Mrs. Piazzaās students were thrilled to spend the afternoon with Dr. Norman! Together, they followed classroom routines, completed writing assignments, and listened as he shared stories of his childhood in Alabama and the journey that brought him to Monroe-Woodbury. His message to students was simple but powerful: everyone faces obstacles, but those challenges help us learn, grow, and become who we are meant to be.
Students also had the chance to ask Dr. Norman questions about his role as superintendent, including, āIs it hard being a superintendent?ā
His answer: āYes, but I see you all grow up, and when you walk across that stage and graduate with your diploma, and I get to shake your handā¦that makes it all worth it.ā
Up next: Dr. Norman will serve as a substitute for a Special Education teacher at the Middle School.
