Free Meals for all students

No need to pack meals ever again! Everyone Eats!

The Food Services Department is a team of experienced food service professionals that are dedicated to ensuring students' health, well-being, and their ability to learn through  meals provided to them during their school day. We recognize that meals need to be exciting and delicious, built with quality foods and fresh ingredients designed to energize and satisfy students on-the-go.

Under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), all in-district students are entitled to one free meal during both breakfast and lunch. We invite students to show their support for their  school food service program through participation.Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements, which are based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines.

Funding school meal accounts

As families prepare for students’ return to school, we are reminding you of changes in the school meal program for the 2023-2024 school year.  As noted in our previous communication, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is no longer providing free meals to Monroe-Woodbury students.

Consequently, parents/guardians who wish to have their children purchase school breakfast and lunch will need to fund their school meal accounts via the LINQ Connect Family Portal.

The district utilizes the LINQ Connect Parent Portal, https://family.titank12.com, to manage student accounts, apply for Free and Reduced price meals, make payments via credit card, and view cafeteria purchases and nutritional information. Directions on how to create a new Titan account are below. Login information for families with established accounts has not changed.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

2023-2024 UPDATES Coming soon

For the past two years, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has provided waivers to Child Nutrition (CN) programs across the United States, allowing these programs to offer all students breakfast and lunch at no charge. The USDA is no longer providing these free meals to schools nationwide, including Monroe-Woodbury.

Families can qualify for free meals through Direct Certification (Medicaid, SNAP) or by completing a Free and Reduced Application. Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications 2023-2024

Applying for free and reduced meals is easy! Just download and complete a Free and Reduced Application or submit an online application through the Titan Family Portal. Hard copies are also available at main offices or cafeterias in our schools.

Enrollment in Free and Reduced price meals is confidential and has the added benefit of enabling families to be eligible for the Federal Communications Commission’s Affordable Connectivity Program (click on the link to read more). This program helps ensure that households can afford the broadband they need for work, school, healthcare and more.

In addition, students will:

  • Receive waivers for college application fees;

  • Qualify for AP exam fee reductions;

  • Take a limited number of SAT exams for free; and

  • Participate in the Job Corps workforce development program.

You will receive notification through your district designated email if your student is approved.

Families must submit applications for free and reduced price meals each school year. Applications may be submitted at any time before or during the school year, but we encourage families to submit their applications by September 1 each year to maximize the benefits.

Special Dietary Needs

Reasonable Accommodations:  Food substitutions and modifications will be made for students with special dietary needs if:

  • A physician’s statement is on file describing the student’s special dietary needs

Procedure:

  • Have form signed by the student’s physician or attach a signed physician’s prescription form

  • Return documentation to the cafeteria at student’s school.

  • Once the form is completed and returned, the school will schedule a meeting with the student’s parent and school staff to discuss the diet prescription and the substitutions/modifications necessary to accommodate the student.
