Test Drive a Bus event - April 13

Test Drive a bus information

Babysitter/Childcare forms due April 1, 2024

The following information was emailed to families from the M-W Transportation Department on March 6, 2024.

Bus routing for the 2024-2025 school year will soon begin. All children are transported to and from their home addresses at the beginning of each school year. If your child will be going to a babysitter or childcare provider for the 2024-25 school year, please complete the Babysitter/Childcare Information Form before the April 1 deadline mandated by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

It is also necessary to fill out this form if your child attends an after school program such as YMCA, Club Kid, Extended Day, SMA, UMAC, etc. This form should be submitted to the transportation office no later than April 1, 2024.

We are pleased to offer this babysitter bus service with two restrictions:

  • Babysitter arrangements can be scheduled for the morning, afternoon, or both. However, bus stops must be at the same location five days per week. For example, if a child is picked up at a parent residence in the morning and is dropped off at a babysitter in the afternoon, both stops must be consistent throughout the school week.

  • The babysitter location must be within your child’s school attendance zone. If you have any questions about elementary school boundaries, please call our office at 845-460-6010.

If you submit a request after April 1, 2024, you may be required to make alternate arrangements for your child’s babysitter/childcare transportation for the first couple of weeks of school, or until the bus route change can be implemented.

If you share joint custody of your child, please note that, according to state law, the school district is only required to provide busing to a single residence. However, we may be able to provide two different (primary and secondary) weekday stops under the following conditions:

  • There must be available space on the non-primary bus (the secondary location not listed in PowerSchool); and

  • The child(ren) must be in at least seventh grade (no elementary school age children, according to NYSED criteria).

Enjoy the rest of the school year. We look forward to transporting your child in September.
