boys indoor track champions

This past weekend the boys Winter Track & Field team competed at the Nike Indoor National Championship in New York City. The boys were entered in 3 Championship relays.  On Friday evening, Collin Catherwood, Ronaldo Rodriguez Perez, John Urciuoli, and Collin Gilstrap finished 2nd in the Distance Medley Relay, narrowly missing the victory by .13 seconds.  Their time of 10:09.06 is a new M-W school record.

On Saturday, Catherwood, Urciuoli, and Gilstrap teamed up with Gavin Catherwood to compete in the 4 x 1 Mile relay.  This time the Crusaders were victorious, winning the 1st National Relay Championship in school history. Their time of 17:30.76 is a M-W school record, a Section 9 record, and #4 All time for the state of New York.

The weekend concluded Sunday with the National Champion 4xMile team competing in the 4x800m relay.  Once again, they raced to a top 3 finish placing 3rd with yet another M-W school record time of 7:51.01.

The boys also had a few athletes compete in the Emerging Elite division.  Junior Kyle German was 7th in the Triple Jump.  Senior Rohan Sonakya was 28th in the Weight Throw.  Sophomores Jaden Medrano, Nick Almeida, Max Weeks, and Ronaldo Rodriguez Perez finished 8th in the 4x400m relay.
