Message from district graphic

UPDATE: 1:15 p.m.:  Any after school activities or events scheduled outdoors will now be held indoors.

UPDATE: 8 a.m., Wednesday, June 7:  Students will remain indoors today. The district will continue to monitor air quality throughout the region.

As the region continues to be affected by air polluted by smoke from early summer wildfires in eastern Canada, Monroe-Woodbury has taken the following precautions:

  • All dampers were closed in all schools by 5 p.m. today.

  • A decision regarding outside activities for students will be made tomorrow morning. Students will be kept indoors if conditions are not acceptable. The haze is expected to continue through early morning hours.

While air quality readings are currently around 150 PPM, the Orange County Department of Health has reported that projections indicate that air quality readings will dip below 100 tomorrow, which is within an acceptable range. Families may visit airnow.gov as a resource to look at current conditions.

The district will continue to monitor conditions and make decisions in the best interest of students and staff.
