Dawn Tauber is currently serving her third term on the Board of Education and her second year as President. She has been a resident of Monroe-Woodbury for more than 20 years and is the parent of two Monroe-Woodbury graduates.

We asked Ms. Tauber to answer a few questions so we could get to know her a little better!

Q: What made you want to be on the school board, and what are you most excited to work on for our schools?
A: I joined the Board of Education because I care about making a positive impact on our students and community. I’m excited to focus on programs and initiatives that help students thrive, support our teachers and staff, and strengthen the connections between families and schools.

Q: What’s a favorite book, movie, or quote that really stuck with you growing up?
A: One quote that really stuck with me growing up comes from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland: ‘It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then." I’ve always loved the sense of curiosity, adventure, and possibility in those words—they remind me to embrace change and keep exploring.

Q: What’s something fun or unexpected about you that our community might be surprised to learn
A: Something fun about me is that I raise chickens—28 of them, including a guinea hen! They definitely keep things lively at home and add a lot of joy (and plenty of eggs!) to my days.

The Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education is comprised of nine unpaid citizens elected to serve staggered three-year terms. The Board believes that the foundation of an effective school district is a strong partnership with the community. Board decisions directly impact both M-W students and the broader community. To best represent its constituents, the Board invites community members to observe meetings, share opinions, ask questions and voice concerns.

Stay tuned as we get to know more of our dedicated Board members!
