M-W wins best comunity for music education

For 15 straight years, Monroe-Woodbury Central School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) recognition from The NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Foundation for their outstanding support and commitment to music education. This marks the 20th year M-W has earned this special recognition.

Now in its 27th year, the program continues to spotlight and celebrate school districts across the country for their exemplary dedication to music education and their ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to music learning as part of a well-rounded education.

“We are incredibly grateful to offer outstanding opportunities for our students in the arts, made possible by our committed school community. From their first days at Monroe-Woodbury, students begin a musical journey enriched by programs and experiences that support their growth every step of the way. I couldn’t be more proud of all we have accomplished. The arts remain a vital part of shaping the Monroe-Woodbury graduate,” said Tracy Norman, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools.

In 2026, more than 1,000 school districts and schools have been recognized for outstanding achievement in providing access to high-quality music education. Recipients of the 2026 BCME Awards were selected through a comprehensive application and review process that evaluates key indicators, including funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support. All applications were independently reviewed and verified by a research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.
