Superintendent Norman took on a very unique Super Sub assignment, diving into the behind-the-scenes magic that keeps our buildings running smoothly. The experience included working on essential systems like boilers and conducting roof-top HVAC (heating, venting and air conditioning) inspections.
On a cold, damp morning, Dr. Norman, alongside districtwide HVAC technician, Kevin Tyrrell, climbed onto the roof at the Harriman Center. After a brief orientation on the air handling units, Dr. Norman teamed up with Kevin to change filters and add cleaning agents to ensure the units operated properly,— all while taking in a birds-eye view from the Harriman Center rooftop!
Next stop was the boiler room at North Main Elementary, where Dr. Norman learned about the heat transfer systems, changed the boiler ribbons, and learned what steps are required to keep the systems running efficiently.
From climbing on the roof to working up a sweat in the boiler room, Dr. Norman experienced what it’s like to be an HVAC technician servicing a large school district. He worked in various environments to take care of the systems that, in turn, help care for our Crusaders.
