Members of our school community may have recently received a legal notice regarding a class-action settlement involving PowerSchool Holdings LLC and the Naviance platform. The email from the Kroll Settlement Administrator is a legitimate court-mandated notice intended to provide eligible Naviance users with information about the proposed settlement and their rights.
Naviance, owned by PowerSchool, is an online college and career planning platform used by schools nationwide, including Monroe-Woodbury. The lawsuit alleges that PowerSchool and other defendants non-consensually intercepted students’ confidential communications through third-party analytics and advertising software embedded in the Naviance platform between August 18, 2021 and January 23, 2026. PowerSchool and the other defendants deny any wrongdoing but have agreed to a settlement to resolve the claims.
To clarify, this lawsuit does not allege a data breach in the traditional sense—it does not involve hackers accessing or stealing student information. Rather, the allegations concern the use of third-party analytics and advertising technology within the Naviance platform itself. Protecting student data remains a top priority, and we continue to maintain rigorous security practices as part of our daily operations.
If you believe your child may be eligible for the settlement, you may submit a claim[MA3] at www.powerschoolnaviancesettlement.com. The deadline to file a claim is July 27, 2026. If you wish to exclude yourself from the settlement or object, the deadline is July 13, 2026. For more information, including the full notice and settlement agreement, please visit the settlement website or contact the Settlement Administrator at (833) 447-8852.
