With the school year in full swing, Superintendent Norman began his Super Sub initiative at Sapphire Elementary by substituting for kindergarten teacher Elizabeth Drames.

Superintendent Norman’s assignment began by picking up the class from the cafeteria and escorting the little Crusaders to their classroom. Upon entering the colorful and bright room, many sets of eyes were on the Superintendent as he was peppered with questions such as, “Where’s my teacher?”

After reviewing the assignments, it was time to open glue sticks and practice handwriting skills and counting. Students worked on fall projects with many more glue sticks—kindergarten classrooms are constantly bustling with energy.

From endless smiles and giggles, this energetic group of five- and six-year-olds kept Dr. Norman on his toes, bringing him back to his days as an elementary teacher. Next up: Dr. Norman will substitute for a fifth grade teacher at Pine Tree!
