Hanele Rohlfs - Women's History Month graphic

Introducing Hanele Rohlfs, North Main’s Kitchen Manager. Hanele works hard to brighten up the kitchen with her happy demeanor and creative menus! Today we celebrate Mrs. Rohlfs and all that she does to help keep North Main students smiling and well fed!

Q: What role do you play in M-W?
A:  I am kitchen manager at North Main Elementary.  This is my 18th year at NM, my first year as kitchen manager.

Q: What is the best part about your job?
A: My favorite part of the job is of course the KIDS!  I get them for 4 years. They come to the kitchen as 2nd graders and leave as 5th graders, so I really get to know them. I love it when I run into one of them as young adults and they still remember me!

Q: Who is your hero and why?
A: A woman that I have always admired in history is Louisa May Alcott. I grew up in Acton, Massachusetts and a lot of famous authors were from my area (Walden Pond was my swimming hole). My grandmother always gave me books from these authors and she gave me Little Women when I turned 9. I read and reread that book! I did a report on her for 6th grade, when I found out how really involved she was in the Suffrage movement.

My other hero is my mother, who broke some glass ceilings herself when she became the first liquor distributor salesWOMAN in the state of Florida!

Q: What is your favorite place to visit?
A: My favorite place to visit is Manoment, Mass! My family has had a cottage there for 60 years.

Q: What advice would you give your younger self?
A: Listen to your mother more!
