With the anticipated heat in the upcoming days, the district is working to mitigate temperatures in our schools to ensure the well-being of all students. Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 18, air conditioned areas and water stations will be available in each of the school buildings. Building administrators will continue to monitor classrooms through the day to make sure everyone is as comfortable as possible. Classes will have access to the air conditioned areas as needed.
As you are aware, schools and offices are closed on Wednesday, June 19, in honor of Juneteenth. After reviewing the student calendar and taking into consideration the upcoming weather, the district will now move up the early dismissal schedule to include Thursday, June 20.
The early dismissal times on Thursday, June 20, are as follows: UPK - 11:10 a.m. dismissal, M-W Middle School – 11:37 a.m. dismissal, Sapphire and Smith Clove (K-1) – 11:45 a.m. dismissal, Central Valley, North Main, Pine Tree – 12:45 p.m. dismissal.
High school exams will remain as scheduled. Friday, June 21, is an established early dismissal per the district calendar and will follow the same schedule outlined above. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We are excited to share the final days of school with your children.


The Outdoors Club enjoyed a 3 mile hike on June 7. They stopped at the Bellvale Creamery to enjoy an ice cream before making the trek back. A perfect way to celebrate the completion of the last full week of classes of the school year!!

The first ever Color Run was a huge success! M-W families and community members gathered for a fun-filled run through the MWHS campus. Shout out to MWHS Student Government and the administrative team for bringing this fun-filled event to life!👟😎🎉











The MWHS Academic and Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, June 6th at 6 PM. MWHS students will be recognized for a variety of accomplishments, from academic successes to ongoing commitment to extracurriculars. M-W extends a huge congratulations to all the recipients! On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, District residents passed the $223,614,319 budget for the 2024-2025 school year by a vote of 1,035 yes votes to 373 no votes — an approval rating of 73.5 percent.
Kaytlin Simmons was elected with 777 votes; Candice DeLeo Novack was elected with 747 votes; and incumbent Dawn Tauber was elected with 709 votes. Anthony Andersen had 698 votes and Jamell Evans had 663 votes.
District officials would like to thank members of the M-W community for their continued support of our schools.


REMINDER: The annual school budget vote and Board of Education election will be held today, May 21, from 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. at Central Valley Elementary School, 45 Route 32, Central Valley.

Congratulations to MWHS Student-Athlete Leah Sheerin for your impressive accomplishments within the Athletic Department! You truly embody the characteristics of a Monroe-Woodbury Crusader.
Leah is a four year starter for the Girls Varsity Golf Team. Leah is the Girls Golf Team Co-Captain, she has led the team in scoring for the past 3 years in a row. Not only that, but she is a three time MVP recipient in Girls Golf. Leah has qualified for the NYSPHSAA Team and the Individual Golf Championship in 2023. With all of these amazing accomplishments as her time as an athlete for the Girls Golf Team, Leah has also been on the Girls JV Tennis Team, and the Girls JV Basketball team for the last two years. According to Coach Earl:
“Leah Sheerin is not only an exceptional student athlete with multiple athletic accomplishments, she also has a sense of compassion, care and interest in extra-curricular activities and clubs that benefit her peers and community. Her dedication to academics and sports is unmatched, making her a role model to her peers and a pleasure to coach”.

Best wishes to MWHS senior Emely Michelle Carranza who was among the 2024 WE SOAR! scholarship recipients honored during the NYS Association for Latino Administrators & Superintendents' 3rd Annual Scholarship Award Celebration.
