The MWMS sixth grade chorus, under the direction of Ms. Maria Diaz, recently participated in a unique and educational workshop focusing on Indian classical music. Presented by Mr. Naren Budhkar of the East-West School of Dance here in Monroe, students performed talas (rhythms) and ragas (melodies) in preparation for their performance of TaReKiTa at their upcoming spring concert.

The MWMS sixth-grade orchestra, under the direction of orchestra and music production teacher, Ms. Mika Leonard, had an exciting experience during spring break. Crusaders participated in a practice session with Mrs. E’lissa Jones Maynard, a local music teacher, violinist, singer, and songwriter. While encouraging students to pursue their dreams, Mrs. Maynard also shared valuable performing tips. Students learned a "secret recipe" for improvisation solos as well as techniques for enhancing stage presence. Great takeaways to put into practice for the upcoming spring concerts!🎼🎻

Don't forget! Back to school!
Crusaders, take lunch off your to-do list! We’re happy to remind you that breakfast and lunch are available to all students at no cost to families each school day! No need to pack lunch (or breakfast). Our food service professional team is here to provide students with nutritious, balanced meals to help them learn, grow, and succeed.

If your child prefers to bring lunch from home, they are still welcome to take milk, fruit, vegetable, grain, and/or protein at no cost to complement their meal—our "Sidekick" meal.

We also offer convenient grab-and-go breakfast options that students can enjoy at school or save for later. Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s health and learning—because every student deserves access to wholesome meals to be ready to learn each day.🥣🥪

If you have any questions, please email foodforthought@mw.k12.ny.us or call (845) 460-6200 ext 10159.

Before the break, MWMS math teachers Ms. Gower and Ms. Beneat held a "Spring Recess Sprint" for eighth graders. In small groups, students participated by finding hidden eggs in the recess area, containing either a piece of candy or a math problem.

If the egg held a math problem, the team solved it collaboratively, had it approved by a teacher, and a new student searched for the next egg. If it held candy, a new student immediately searched for the next egg. A bunny was even spotted, encouraging everyone to "hop to it!"🐰✖️➗
