On Saturday, February 28, 2026, nine Monroe-Woodbury teams from five schools applied their knowledge and participated in the 47th annual Odyssey of the Mind competition.
Teams competed in five different problems that encompass vehicle, technical, classics, structure and theatrical. Each team received its problem in early October and then constructed props and mechanisms to prepare the best solution to the challenge. The tasks include a skit or performance that is an original creation. The Middle School team led by Coach McInerney and Coach Rivera took top honors in their problem #2 (technical) performance and will be moving on to the state competition on March 21 in Syracuse!
Congratulations to all M-W Odyssey of the Mind participants!

As we wrap up Black History Month, Superintendent Norman gave an engaging and interactive presentation to a group of 500 MWMS eighth graders. The presentation focused on the diverse founders of the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) and the powerful impact of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

Eighth graders at MWMS worked together to design, sketch and paint a mural incorporating this year’s theme, Random Acts of Kindness. A collaboration between the art department and local artist Joe Pimentel, drawings were blended together to create this amazing mural. This isn’t just a painted wall, it’s a reminder that small actions matter, kindness matters! 🎨 🖌️
