Happy Friyay! A special reunion took place yesterday at North Main between Mrs. Veronica Kaleta and former student Cameron Brown! Cameron is now a firefighter with Lakeside Fire & Rescue Co. in Monroe and visited the school to teach fire prevention techniques to second and third grade students. From learning in the classroom to leading oneā€“what a full circle moment! šŸš’šŸ’œ

October 5 -11 is Fire Safety Week and our younger Crusaders learned some very important lessons about staying safe in an emergency. Firefighters from the Monroe Joint Fire District (Mombasha Fire Company, Harriman Engine Company and Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company) visited elementary schools in the district to help spread awareness about fire safety.

Led by Firefighter Sean Glander of Lakeside Fire & Rescue Co., students toured fire trucks, received hands-on demonstrations about what to do if they see or smell smoke, and how to call for help during an emergency. Firefighters also demonstrated how their uniforms keep them safe when there is a fire.

When it comes to safety, itā€™s always best to be prepared! šŸ§‘ā€šŸš’

At the start of each school year, Orange County conducts an emergency early dismissal drill. This year the drill will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025 and students will go home 15 minutes early. Parents and guardians should be prepared for students to arrive home 15 minutes earlier than usual. Thank you!
