MWHS students in Ms. Bulla’s Explore Teaching as a Profession program are introduced to careers in education. Through this program, many students learn that working in this field goes far beyond the traditional classroom teacher role. Education offers many paths, but all require commitment, empathy, and a heart for service, all characteristics of a Crusader! 💜

On Monday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m., the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District will test its emergency alert system. This TEST allows families to verify receipt of morning announcements regarding school closings, delays or other emergency notifications.

In addition to our primary Early Morning message system (SchoolMessenger), the district will also be testing our back-up notification system. For THIS TEST ONLY, you will also receive an additional phone call, text and email notification.

If you do not receive the TEST message on Monday evening, review your contact information in the Parent Portal for errors and make any necessary changes. Please reach out to your child’s building for assistance if you have questions.

Thank you,

On Wednesday, October 29, AV Technician Dana Kerstanski was among school district employees countywide who earned a 2025 Mid-Hudson School Study Council (MHSSC) Award for Excellence in Support Staff Services. Each year, the MHSSC recognizes individuals in the education field who display excellence in their work. Awards were presented to Kerstanski and other honorees at an October 29 celebratory event in Middletown.

Kerstanski plays a key role behind the scenes. Whether he’s setting up the audio visual components for a Board of Education meeting, supporting the Music and Art Departments with their performances and exhibits, or collaborating on The M-Dub Morning Show, Kerstanski proves he is truly multifaceted.

Vice Principal Dr. Kelli Sciarra said, “Whether he is coordinating logistics for assemblies, collaborating and managing logistics for prom and homecoming, or supporting critical events like the mock accident and senior celebrations, Mr. Kerstanski brings insight, innovation and a can-do spirit to every project. He ensures that everything runs smoothly and safely, often anticipating challenges before they arrive.”

Congratulations, Mr. Kerstanski! 💜🏆

Did you know New York produces about 30 million bushels of apples annually? How ‘bout them apples! During lunch today, Crusaders from Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree joined in the Big Apple Crunch–a statewide celebration of New York’s favorite fruit.

In partnership with the FarmOn! Foundation, students received samples of five different kinds of apples: Granny Smith, Red, Golden, Gala and Fuji. At CVE students even turned it into a mini-taste test, ranking each sample from sweet to most tart, and the reactions were as diverse as the flavors!🍎🍏
