Did you know New York produces about 30 million bushels of apples annually? How ‘bout them apples! During lunch today, Crusaders from Central Valley, North Main and Pine Tree joined in the Big Apple Crunch–a statewide celebration of New York’s favorite fruit.
In partnership with the FarmOn! Foundation, students received samples of five different kinds of apples: Granny Smith, Red, Golden, Gala and Fuji. At CVE students even turned it into a mini-taste test, ranking each sample from sweet to most tart, and the reactions were as diverse as the flavors!🍎🍏

Reminder: On Friday, October 17 M-W community will think PINK in honor of breast cancer awareness month. We will wear pink and denim to support survivors, fighters, and all those impacted by breast cancer. Let’s all join together and help build awareness!🩷

October 5 -11 is Fire Safety Week and our younger Crusaders learned some very important lessons about staying safe in an emergency. Firefighters from the Monroe Joint Fire District (Mombasha Fire Company, Harriman Engine Company and Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company) visited elementary schools in the district to help spread awareness about fire safety.
Led by Firefighter Sean Glander of Lakeside Fire & Rescue Co., students toured fire trucks, received hands-on demonstrations about what to do if they see or smell smoke, and how to call for help during an emergency. Firefighters also demonstrated how their uniforms keep them safe when there is a fire.
When it comes to safety, it’s always best to be prepared! 🧑🚒

At the start of each school year, Orange County conducts an emergency early dismissal drill. This year the drill will take place on Friday, October 10, 2025 and students will go home 15 minutes early. Parents and guardians should be prepared for students to arrive home 15 minutes earlier than usual. Thank you!

Community Swim is canceled on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Thank you,

But wait…there’s one more! Zoe, incoming Pine Tree fourth grader, soaked up the summer sun with family in Cancun! 🌞😍

Seating was wall-to-wall yesterday as Pine Tree opened its doors for a pre-orientation. Principal German and Assistant Principal Martin welcomed incoming second graders and new students to the building. Families toured hallways and classrooms, learned about resources available to all Crusaders, and were introduced to members of the front office and nursing staff.
What a great way to kick off the new school year! 🏫💜📚

Summer is the perfect time to fuel your passion! Naiellie S. incoming fifth grader at Pine Tree, embraced her inner performer. She attended theater camp at Orange County School of Dance and met new friends who all put on a fantastic show! Naiellie also got to see her very first Broadway show. What a “Wicked” way to spend the summer! #Summer2025 🧙🏻♀️🎭

McKenzie and Madison L. of Pine Tree knew the best way to beat the heat: a beach day. Nothing’s better than cooling off with some big waves at Long Beach Island! 🌊😄
