2025-2026 Proposed Budget

On Tuesday, May 20, residents of the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District will go to the polls to vote on the proposed 2025-2026 District Budget of $236,759,257. The proposed budget, with a 1.50 percent tax levy increase, focuses resources on maintaining programs that meet the needs of our students, bolstering safety measures in schools, and providing staff with resources and professional development that align with New York State Learning Standards.

This year, M-W is allowed a maximum levy of $136,033,529, or 3.55 percent. For the 2025-2026 school year, the District proposes a levy of $133,342,960, a 1.50 percent increase. This marks the sixth consecutive year the District has presented a budget to the community that has a tax levy below the maximum allowable limit.

The proposed budget includes a Capital Project Bond Proposition (Proposition 2) authorizing the expenditure of up to $16.6 million for projects that complement the current $98 million capital program.

Proposition 2 will have NO TAX IMPACT due to the use of existing capital reserves and building aid as funding sources. The proposed budget also includes an interfund transfer of $1.7 million to purchase seven large 72-passenger buses and two small 35-passenger buses as part of the District's replacement plan. State aid would cover approximately 70 percent of the expense.

Additionally, residents will elect three members to the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education.

The candidates are (listed in ballot order):

  • Dulaya Santikul

  • Jeffery Reynolds (incumbent)

  • Suzanne Donahue (incumbent)
