School Budget Vote to be held on Tuesday, May 17, from 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. at Central Valley Elementary, 45 Route 32, Central Valley, NY

At a special meeting on Thursday, April 21, the Monroe-Woodbury Board of Education adopted a $201,524,574 proposed budget for the 2022-2023 school year. This budget, which represents a spending increase of $12,757,778 or 6.76 percent, would result in a tax levy increase of 1.95 percent – an increase that is under the district’s legal limit as defined by New York’s tax levy cap legislation. This is the third consecutive year that the proposed tax levy is less than the maximum allowable levy (2.51 percent for 2022-2023).

The proposed budget would allow Monroe-Woodbury to enhance curriculum opportunities for students with the addition of an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Dean of Students (HS), Dean of Students (MS), and 2 HS teachers, with a focus on relevant technology and business classes. The proposed budget also includes an expansion of the district’s summer academic offerings to more effectively meet the needs of students and the addition of one more Universal Pre-Kindergarten site.

The proposed tax levy – $129,074,842 – is less than the maximum allowable limit for 2022-2023. A public hearing regarding the proposed budget will be held in the Education Center, 278 Route 32, Central Valley, on Wednesday, May 4, at 6 p.m.  In addition, district leaders will hold a budget-related Crusader Chat in early May. Please submit questions  in advance by completing the Budget Questions Submission Form
