On Tuesday, May 17, Monroe-Woodbury residents will vote on a proposed budget of $201,524,574 for the 2022-2023 school year. The proposed budget would maintain existing staff and add administrative and instructional positions to support students and staff as well as improve the school environment.

The proposed budget includes a spending increase of 6.76 percent, or $12,757,778, compared to the 2021-2022 budget. The tax levy would be increased by 1.95 percent from a budgeted $126,606,025 in 2021-2022 to a proposed $129,074,842 for 2022-2023. This increase is under the allowable levy limit for the third consecutive year.

Residents will also elect three school board members. Elected candidates will serve a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2025. Candidates (in ballot order) are:

  • Mrs. Staci McCleary (incumbent) 
  • Mrs. Suzanne Donahue (incumbent)
  • Dr. Sergey Koyfman (incumbent)
  • Mr. Jeffery Reynolds

The MWPTA Council Executive Board is presenting a “Meet the Candidates” event on Wednesday, May 11, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Monroe-Woodbury High School auditorium, 155 Dunderberg Road, Central Valley.

The 2022-2023 budget mailer, including the budget notice, should be arriving at residents’ homes between May 7-9.
