Mrs. Beers of Central Valley was recognized by the family of Ethan Q. Ethan Q.’s family said, “This school year was challenging for us especially with Ethan, dealing with a difficult classmate and of his has impacted his behavior and love of going to school. But Mrs. Beers was able to help us get through those difficult times. Also, Ethan understands his lessons so well, especially with math, that he doesn’t have to ask my assistance when doing his homework. We are very impressed. That speaks to the way Mrs. Beers teaches the lessons. Mrs. Breheny of Central Valley was recognized by the family of Willa S. Willa S.’s family said, “Mrs. Breheny has changed Willa’s school experience. She has helped her come out of her shell and be confident in her abilities. The way she teaches math, has taken away Willa’s fear of the subject. The “no homework” policy has changed our home life and Willa has been reading more books this year than ever before without the homework pressure. We are so grateful!” Willa’s family’s message to Mrs. Breheny, “We are endlessly grateful to you for teaching Willa that math isn’t scary and for making her understand things she has not been able to comprehend before. This week we celebrate the people who make up the Monroe-Woodbury Transportation team as they continue to work hard ensuring our students are safely transported to and from school. Mrs. Mottola of Central Valley Elementary was recognized by the family of three of her students, Stephanie and Nicole Z., and Adam C. Nicole and Stephanie Z.’s mom said, “Mrs. Mottola was very present for my girls during a very difficult time in our lives and she continues to be a strong support for them. Mrs. Mottola is such a good human being who goes above and beyond for her students. I know that when my girls are adults and they look back on their years at CVE, Mrs. Mottola will always bring a big smile to their faces. CVE students in Ms. Eckert’s art class took advantage of last week’s brief sunshine and created art outdoors. Inspired by earth artist Andy Goldsworthy, students collected natural materials from around the building. They were encouraged to make a design with radial symmetry but were allowed to make anything as the inspiration struck them. What a great way to enjoy nature! 🌼

Mark your calendars! As a result of unused inclement weather days, all Monroe-Woodbury schools and offices will be closed for students and staff on Friday, May 23, 2025. Out-of-district students will be transported on May 23 if their programs are open. As planned, the school district will be closed on Monday, May 26, in honor of Memorial Day and we will welcome students back to the buildings on Tuesday, May 27. 💜
