On Friday, February 13, the Monroe-Woodbury school community will wear red in recognition of Heart Health Month. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. M-W is wearing red as a reminder to our families to take care of cardiovascular health. Go red, Crusaders! ❤️

Happy National School Counseling Week! Today, we’re highlighting the amazing counseling team at MWMS as they prepare our Crusaders for the next chapter in their journeys. “My struggle is my strength!” That’s the slogan motivational speaker and author of the book “I’m Just a Kid with an IEP,” Jordan Toma wears proudly. During a captivating assembly at MWMS, Mr. Toma shared stories about his childhood, his academic struggles and his number one supporter, his mom. The energy in the air was electric as he encouraged students to speak up, participate in class, and never give up. 💜💪

Join fellow Crusaders at MWHS on Monday, February 2, at 6:00 p.m. for a special event with author, speaker and writer Katherine Martinko. She will lead the discussion “Reclaiming Childhood: Smart Strategies for Managing Screen Time.”

This talk kicks off Monroe-Woodbury PTSA’s upcoming book club series, The Anxious Generation, and will address limiting students’ screen time, a hot topic for today’s families. Parents, educators and community members are encouraged to attend. Listen, learn, and be a part of the conversation. 📚

Monroe-Woodbury is proud to recognize students from MWMS and MWHS who represented the district during the latest FBLA regional business competitions. Through preparation and hard work, these Crusaders earned multiple top-five finishes across several competitive categories.

Good Luck to Kiah Mehta who will be running for State Office for Vice President for District 3N for the 2026-2027 school year! Congratulations to all of the FBLA competitors on an outstanding performance as they get ready for the state leadership conference in April! 👏

Jacob Smith, a seventh grade student in MWMS’s Green House, is the first student to be recognized as Student of the Week. Each week, Green House selects students who show kindness and are good citizens. Jacob’s English teacher Mrs. Kirschenheiter said, “Jacob has shown to be kind, positive and works hard in the classroom. He even serves as a peer-tutor during his lunch periods and is a true pleasure to have in class.” This is the second year Mrs. Kirschenheiter won the PTA mini-grant which rewards deserving students each week. Way to go, Jacob! 🤩💜

MWHS students in Ms. Bulla’s Explore Teaching as a Profession program are introduced to careers in education. Through this program, many students learn that working in this field goes far beyond the traditional classroom teacher role. Education offers many paths, but all require commitment, empathy, and a heart for service, all characteristics of a Crusader! 💜

With sew much love in every stitch, the MWMS Sewing Club hosted a sew-a-thon to create winter hats for local families who need a little extra warmth this season. 🧵💖

MWMS students from the Life Skills class continued their longtime Thanksgiving tradition of preparing and hosting a first-class feast for members of the school community. Attendees gathered to share laughter, stories and enjoy delicious food! Yum! 😋🍗
