Congratulations to MWHS Student-Athlete Brianna Taveras for your impressive accomplishments on the court! You truly embody the characteristics of a Monroe-Woodbury Crusader. Brianna is a 9th grader on the Girls Varsity Basketball team. According to Coach Dave Powers:
"Brianna is a 9th grader on the Girls Varsity Basketball team and was one of the driving forces on our young team this year. She is a dedicated and passionate player who is intent on getting better. Brianna was 2nd on the team in scoring and steals. She led the team in assists, and scored a team high 15 points in our sectional loss to Middletown. Brianna was also selected to the All League and All Section team."

Congratulations to The Wire's staff writer, Olivia Cooper, whose latest article, "Transgender and Genderqueer high schoolers share ups and downs of experiences at Monroe-Woodbury High School," was recently selected for the "Best of SNO" award. The opinion piece was published last week on The Wire, the MWHS digital school newspaper.
The award is given by the organization that hosts the high school's digital paper and others, "showcasing the best in student journalism from members of the SNO Network." SNO showcases the best articles published using the platform each day and only take about 10 percent of submissions from over 500 participating schools.
Bravo, Olivia!✍🏼👏

Thirty-four students in Model UN (Advisor Anthony Verboys) and Multicultural Club (Advisor Amanda Greenblatt) visited the United Nations Headquarters today. Students enjoyed fantastic tours of the building and grounds, and even saw one of the chambers where delegates meet. The students were starstruck by seeing US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield walk by. They also saw participants in the Commission on the Status of Women in their cultural attire. It as wonderful to have the variety of different cultures all in one place. What a successful trip!

Diverse Minds-Unified Hearts Week is in full gear at MWHS! After a kick-off message from Student Council, 9th & 11th grade students enjoyed a presentation by Dr. Mykee Fowlin, "You Don't Know Me Until You Know Me." To show our appreciation for our drivers we have created a bulletin board with safety slogans and inspirational messages in each bus window. We have also created a fun quiz contest. Any employee can take a ticket. On each ticket I ask a bus safety related question each week. Every Friday we pick a random ticket with the correct answer to the question and that person wins a prize.
Love the Bus is about inspiring people, caring about our employees and showing appreciation for all we do to keep our students safe and ready to learn each and every day.
