This past weekend, our MWMS Odyssey of the Mind team traveled to Syracuse to compete in the 46th annual New York State Tournament. Coached by Joanne McInerney & Janet Rivera, this hardworking team ended their impressive season with a six place finish. Let’s give another round of applause to Madison Kamfoi, Samir Malik, Matthew Joseph, Alyssa Johnson, Angelina Felix, Ellie Vergara and Michael Rivera. Great work, team!

North Main third graders in Mrs. Gerow’s and Ms. Bennett’s classes recreated an extraordinary model of a Brazilian rainforest. Wrapping up their Social Studies Curriculum on Interdependent Relationships and Ecosystems in Science, students worked together to construct the four different layers of a rainforest. Vibrant illustrations of each layer were broken down into the forest floor, the understory, emergent layer and the canopy. Great job, Crusaders and remember, don’t poke the animals!

Helping others without expecting anything in return is the true definition of kindness. MWMS students who display this quality are recognized by staff with a surprise visit to the office, a Crusader Spirit pencil, and a leaf on the Kindness Tree in the Guidance hallway. Whether it’s assisting a teacher clean up, returning a lost item or helping another student who dropped their books, our Crusaders know how to brighten someone’s day! Congratulations to the following students for their random acts of kindness: Jovani Soto, Maci Podesta, Nicholas Scarcella and Nilkaily Ubiera! Well done!

Good luck to our MWMS Odyssey of the Mind team who will compete at the State Competition this weekend. Go, Crusaders! You’ve got this! 💡🤩
